Odd Office Move-in

"I'm looking forward to moving, but I forgot how much I hate packing"

Picking a new location for work is never easy- it’s a place you will spend half of your waking life, so it’s a big decision that requires a lot of thought and time. Nevertheless, the team was outgrowing our humble abode, and there was an increasing need for more space. We hunted and searched for a new place to call home, and luckily for us, we have found it!

The morning of move-in day started sunny and joyful as we all arrived in front of the building. The entire Madsen family and puppy Katie were there to welcome us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and excitement was running high. (Unfortunately, we could not track down a pair of grand, ceremonial scissors.) We didn’t know what to expect when the doors opened, and we began asking each other things like: “Will there be enough bathrooms? Where's the nap room? Are there enough trees in the back for a hammock? How close is Panda Express?” The critical questions, you know. When the ribbon was cut and the door finally opened, we expected (and welcomed) a blank slate. However, to our surprise the office already had furnishings: standing desks, chairs, a kitchenette, and a lounge area. Score!

After a quick toast to our Oddacious future, we immediately began brainstorming how we would utilize the space to create more joy. Our hope is that in addition to being the place for our usual work the office space willo contribute to our wellbeing and that of the community we are now a part of. We're thinking that the front of the building would make a comfortable lounge area dedicated to showcasing the work of local artists. And, in the back we can enjoy meals together and host pop-up events. We want it to be a place that sparks conversation, creativity, and “big brain” ideas, as Noah would say. We will keep you updated as the Oddacious HQ comes together!
